Manduria, on the other hand, is the city of wine, surrounded by hectares of vineyards. Almost every family here owns a small piece of land, with vines trained as traditional ‘Alberello' or grown tall with a trellis system, and everyone at the end of summer makes their own wine. Manduria also offers an evocative medieval Jewish ghetto, several romanesque and baroque churches, and the ancient Messapic walls, one of the biggest archeological sites in Puglia.
